Agriculture & Applied Economics Public Lecture, Wednesday, October 25, 2017
Dr. Yoram Bauman
Economics of Carbon Taxes Abstract: Dr. Bauman is the founder of CarbonWA, a non-profit meant to create bi-partisan support for a revenue-neutral carbon tax. The initiative, however, became heavily politicized, with environmental groups uniting against the policy. Dr. Bauman will explain to attendees why many economists favor a carbon tax as an efficient strategy to combat climate change and the political landscape that ultimately resulted in the failure of I-732 (59% to 41%).
